Tinctures vs other herbal supplements
Herbs are plants and as such every cell in the herb is surrounded by a cell wall. This cell wall is very hard for the human body to break down allowing only a small amount (~15%) of the key constituents (all the good stuff) contained in the herbs to be absorbed. Our tinctures are created by using a process called the percolation method to slowly filter alcohol through a dry powdered herb so that the alcohol draws all of the key constituents of the herb from inside the cell into the alcohol. The distilled water in the alcohol solution works to draw out all of the vitamins and minerals. This new alcohol and water solution (tincture) contains a high concentration of the "whole" of the medicinal herb and is very easy for the body to absorb.
Turmeric’s impact on the body
Turmeric contains curcumin, which is a powerful anti-inflammatory, and is the primary constituent for turmeric’s ability to significantly reduce joint pain. Curcumin works by blocking several inflammatory pathways countering inflammation throughout the entire body. Curcumin is also rare in its ability to cross the blood-brain barrier and directly affect the brain. Turmeric is taken to prevent or even treat cancer, dementia, and different autoimmune diseases. Research has shown turmeric to lower cholesterol as well. Turmeric also has a strong anticoagulant action that thins the blood and stimulates the circulatory system. Taken regularly, research has shown turmeric to increase bile production and has a protective action on the stomach and liver.
Ginger's impact on the body
Research has shown ginger to be very helpful for almost any digestive complaint such as indigestion, nausea, gas, bloating, and cramps. The key constituents (mainly volatile oils and oleoresin) speed up the rate of gastric emptying and aids in the absorption of nutrients from the digestive tract. It aids in the absorption of iron which significantly helps the treatment of anemia. It also has strong antiseptic activity which makes it valuable in all gastrointestinal infections including food poisoning. Ginger stimulates circulation helping blood flow to the surface of the body. Ginger’s antiviral activity makes it a first-rate remedy for coughs, colds, flu and other viral respiratory problems.
